Flameaway colt surges late to take Keeneland turf allowance

Blue Eyed George got his second win in three starts Oct. 26 at Keeneland with a powerful final furlong move that carried the 2-year-old Flameaway colt to a 1 ¼-length turf allowance win.

The bay colt is one of 15 winners of 21 races for Flameaway. A top-five First-Crop stallion, Flameaway will be represented by his first Breeders’ Cup starter Friday at Santa Anita by the multiple graded stakes winner Dreamfyre, who is cross-entered in the Juvenile Turf Sprint (G1) and the Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1).

Blue Eyed George got a good stalking trip along the rail in Thursday’s 1 1/16-mile contest. He was never more than three lengths from the lead at any point. With a wall of horses in front of him turning for home, he swung four-wide and ran down Please Advise for the victory.

The winner, owned by BG Stables, was a $200,000 purchase at the OBS 2-year-olds in Training sale in April. Bred by Clear Creek Stud LLC, Blue Eyed George is a half-brother to multiple graded stakes winner Offlee Naughty.
